“India is no. 1 in road crash deaths and injuries in the world.” Global Status Report on Road Safety, 2015
Road accident is most unwanted thing to happen to a road user, though they happen quite often. The most unfortunate thing is that we don’t learn from our mistakes on road. Most of the road users are quite well aware of the general rules and safety measures while using roads but it is only the laxity on part of road users, which cause accidents and crashes. Main cause of accidents and crashes are due to human errors.
Road accidents cost India 3-5% of gross domestic product every year, and are avoidable if India could improve its roads and city planning, train its drivers better, and enforce traffic laws properly, our analysis shows.
Aggression on our roads is a very serious phenomenon. The severity of the problem mainly lies in serious consequences, which are results of aggressive behaviour on the road, in terms of physical health, social, and psychological damages.
Rural India has inefficient services for trauma care, due to the varied topography, financial constraints, and lack of appropriate health infrastructure.
We have high volume of vehicles on our roads and that has happened over the years. There will be chaos, if we don’t expand our roads to meet the immediate requirement.
